Fleas are small parasites that feed off the blood of humans and animals such as dogs and cats.\u00a0 \u00a0They range from 2 – 4 mm in length and are\u00a0 brown in colour.\u00a0 \u00a0Fleas pest status is often attributed to their “biting” (piercing and sucking), which may cause mild to severe irritation or transmit disease.<\/p>\n

Fun Fact: Fleas can jump over 200 times their body length.<\/p>\n

Most flea bites occur around the ankles, waist and lower legs.\u00a0 \u00a0 Typically a cluster of bites occur.\u00a0 \u00a0The irritation which can occur for days, is due to the injection of saliva which acts as an anti coagulant.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Fleas are thought to be an increasing problem due to the increasing number of household pets.<\/p>\n
